The anesthesiologist of the future.

Context.
The Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven is a top clinical hospital with a strong regional role in Southeast Brabant. With specialties in cardiovascular diseases, oncology, and complex surgery, it plays a crucial role in caring for tens of thousands of patients each year. Over 32,000 surgeries are performed annually. For the Cooperative Association Catharina Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine Greater Eindhoven, a partnership of 24 anesthesiologists, IMPACTIVATE facilitated a strategy retreat focused on one central question: what does the anesthesiologist of the future look like?
Insight.
The world is changing rapidly, and healthcare is evolving with it. What will tomorrow’s care demand from the Catharina anesthesiologist of the future? A group of professionals united by a shared mission: to deliver the best possible care to their patients, every single day. Together, they explored how to collaborate sustainably in a dynamic healthcare landscape.
Activation.
We co-designed the session with the department, combining precision with empathy. The setup focused on creating transparency among members and invited reflection and constructive dialogue. What was each person’s perspective? And what did they believe was needed moving forward? We created a safe space where everyone felt free to share. This led to open conversations, diverse viewpoints, shared and received with mutual respect.
Impact.
A team of passionate healthcare professionals who gained not only clarity, but also a renewed sense of ownership. A shared vision for the future and concrete next steps. The partnership now stands ready, with pride and confidence, to shape the anesthesiological care of tomorrow.
